A Pictographic Journey of Tasty Balls!

Meatballs that is..  you dirty people.

Jas decided, over massive amounts of coffee, that he wanted to make meatballs today.  Shockingly enough, neither of us have ever made meatballs before.  Seems like a simple thing doesn’t it.  How strange to never have made them.

We found a delightful recipe in one of our thousand Italian cookbooks that called for beef, pork, and veal-  I need to change my undies.  Taaaaasty!

And here is our journey to ball-dum, in pictures….

Maka da balls-
And then the recipe called for “In a frying pan large enough to hold all of the meatballs in a single layer…”
Really?  Who the fuck has a frying pan that large?
Heh heh.  Me.
Ok it’s a paella pan, but it totally worked.  And making meatballs on the grill is sweet.
Shakin’ the balls.
I’m sorry, it’s too easy.  In reality, he’s about to flip the pan around.  I have to do the same thing when I make paella, because the back of the grill is hotter than the front and you want the heat to distribute evenly-

Pile of balls!
Resting.  Preparing to be sauced..

And why not make the sauce on the grill too?  Leetle onyon, leetle red vine..
And POOF!  Yes it was just like that.  Pictures never lie.

Balls!  In!  Sauce!
The end product.  I braised some eggplant to go with it cause I couldn’t leave well enough alone, it was our own little “Tour of Italy.”
Yup.  That sounded retarded.
Balls were tasty though.

  1. A must have da recipe for the what ever you did in you pants meat-a-balls. Love the way you are using the grill. I should try putting red wine in the sauce. You could use a sweet-n-sour sauce (which I have) for the meat balls as well and serve as an appetizer. Very tasty!!
