We recently found out I will have a hospital stay that may last a few days.
Along with the briefing of what to expect, etc., I was also told there would be a long period where I wouldn’t “be allowed” to eat food, only clear liquids.
There are few things that get my goat worse than being told what I can and cannot eat, especially in today’s society with our quite warped view on what is healthy and what isn’t. So needless to say, I was pretty peeved.
We did find out, however, there was a solid medical reason behind it- risk of aspiration were I to go into emergency surgery where they had to knock me out.
Ok, so that’s valid.
But shit, popsicles? How is a person supposed to sustain their body and keep up their strength on popsicles?!?
The Baker arrived at another solution- stock. Yet another reason to make your stocks from scratch. We make a Shoyu one that is particularly nutrient dense… and a stock is a clear liquid nay??
So we froze it into ice cubes and are taking that with us.
Sometimes it’s the little victories.
You to two rock my world! Amazing! However, popsicles are pretty tasty!! Zoë will love them!!
